چکیده

All procedures of our experiments were approved by the animal care and welfare committee of the Institute of Animal Science of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Two dose-response experiments were conducted to assess the bioefficacy and toxicity of DL-methionine hydroxy analog free acid (MHA-FA) relative to DL-methionine (DLM) in White Pekin ducks. In experiment 1, the methionine-deficient basal diets were supplemented with 5 levels of DLM (0.3, 0.6, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.1 g/kg) or 5 equimolar levels of MHA-FA (0.34, 0.68, 1.13, 1.70, and 2.39 g/kg), respectively. A total of 704 7-d-old male White Pekin ducklings were assigned to 11 experimental treatments, each containing 8 replicate pens with 8 birds per pen. These birds were reared in raised wire-floor pens from 7 to 42 d of age. In experiment 2, the methionine-adequate control diets were supplemented with 30g/ kg DLM or equimolar 33.9 g/kg MHA-FA, respectively. A total of 126 7-d-old male White Pekin ducklings were divided to 3 experimental treatments, each containing 6 replicate pens with 7 birds per pen. These birds were reared in raised wire-floor pens from 7 to 14 d of age. At the end of both experiments, the weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion efficiency of ducklings from each treatment were measured. In our study, supplementation of DLM or MHA-FA to the methioninedeficient basal diets could all improve weight gain of Pekin ducks significantly (P < 0.05). However, according to the slope-ratio assay on equimolar basis, the bioavailabilities of MHA-FA relative to DLM for weight gain were 67%. On the other hand, excess DLM and MHA-FA caused significant decrease in weight gain and feed intake of ducklings (P < 0.05) but MHA-FA was less growth-depressing and lethal than equimolar DLM (P < 0.05).

Impacts of seed priming with salicylic acid and sodium hydrosulfide on possible metabolic pathway of two amino acids in maize plant under lead stress

Heavy metals pollution is one of the key environmental problems. In this research, the effect of seed priming with salicylic acid and sodium hydrosulfide was investigated on methionine and arginine amino acids contents and some compounds derived from their metabolism as well as ZmACS6 and ZmSAMD transcripts levels in maize plants under lead stress. For this purpose, maize seeds were soaked in s...

Assessment of Serum Amino Acid Chromatography in Children with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Background: Given the important role of amino acids in regulating many metabolic pathways of the body and considering the scarcity of markers for the diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and its differentiation, we aimed to investigate the status of serum amino acids chromatography in children with IBD. Materials and Methods This case-control study was conducted among children with pri...

The Effect of Amino Acid, Carbohydrate, and Lipid Metabolism Disorders on Eyes

Inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) are a class of genetic disorders. Each metabolic disorder may have different forms with different age of onset, clinical manifestations, severity, and even type of inheritance. Ideally, a group of different specialists, including ophthalmologists, pediatricians, biochemists, and medical geneticists are needed for the final diagnosis and management of IMDs. B...

The Association between Amino Acid Intake and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in Women Who Referred to Isfahan University of Medical Science Clinics

Background and Objectives: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the greatest current endocrine disease in generative women. Although other issues such as insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, adiposity and dietary pattern are implied to be connected to PCOS, but the most recent evidence are needed to improve management of PCOS. Proteins and amino acids (key dietary components) can...

Protein and amino acid metabolism in the human newborn.

Birth and adaptation to extrauterine life involve major shifts in the protein and energy metabolism of the human newborn. These include a shift from a state of continuous supply of nutrients including amino acids from the mother to cyclic periodic oral intake, a change in the redox state of organs, thermogenesis, and a significant change in the mobilization and use of oxidative substrates. The ...

Protein and amino acid metabolism during and after exercise and the effects of nutrition.

Sustained dynamic exercise stimulates amino acid oxidation, chiefly of the branched-chain amino acids, and ammonia production in proportion to exercise intensity; if the exercise is intense enough, there is a net loss of muscle protein (as a result of decreased protein synthesis, increased breakdown, or both); some of the amino acids are oxidized as fuel, whereas the rest provide substrates for...
